Making history once again, comedian and actress Nikki Glaser is set to return as the solo host for the 83rd Golden Globes, marking her second consecutive year at the helm. Following a well-received debut last year, Glaser, a Golden Globe, GRAMMY®, and Emmy®-nominated talent, will undoubtedly bring her signature sharp wit and engaging presence to the stage. Her return is eagerly anticipated, with many wondering what celebrity roasts and memorable monologues she has in store for this year's A-list audience.
In a special “Golden Eve” event held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, the Golden Globes commenced its celebrations by honoring two titans of the industry with prestigious lifetime achievement awards.
The esteemed Cecil B. DeMille Award for outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment was presented to the legendary Helen Mirren. Mirren, an Oscar winner and multiple Golden Globe recipient, was celebrated for her illustrious career spanning decades of captivating performances across film and television. Her fellow actors and collaborators, including Harrison Ford and Viola Davis, offered heartfelt tributes to her impactful work.
The Carol Burnett Award, which recognizes exceptional and lasting contributions to television, was bestowed upon the incomparable Sarah Jessica Parker. Known for her iconic roles and influential presence on the small screen, Parker’s career was lauded by industry peers like Matthew Broderick and Kristin Davis. This marks Parker as the sixth recipient of this significant television honor.
This “Golden Eve” special, a new tradition for the Globes, set a high bar for the main ceremony, showcasing the depth of talent and dedication within the entertainment industry.
The nominations for the 83rd Annual Golden Globes were announced on December 8, 2025, by actors Skye P. Marshall and Marlon Wayans, revealing a competitive field across film and television. This year introduces a groundbreaking new category: Best Podcast, acknowledging the growing influence and artistry within the audio storytelling landscape.
Leading the film nominations is Paul Thomas Anderson’s black comedy, One Battle After Another, with an impressive nine nods. It's a strong contender across multiple categories, including acting nominations for Leonardo DiCaprio and Chase Infiniti, and a directing nomination for Anderson himself. Following closely are Joachim Trier’s family drama Sentimental Value with eight nominations and Ryan Coogler’s Southern Gothic horror film Sinners with seven nominations.
Key categories to watch include:
On the television front, HBO’s critically acclaimed series, The White Lotus, leads with six nominations, followed by Netflix's limited series Adolescence with five nominations.
Other notable TV acting nominations include:
The Golden Globes red carpet is always a spectacle, setting the tone for awards season fashion. As stars prepare to descend upon the Beverly Hilton, anticipation for their sartorial choices is at an all-time high. An analysis of past winners suggests that certain trends might increase one's chances of taking home a trophy: black is statistically the most successful color, worn by over a third of winning actresses, with single-color designs also proving popular. Armani has emerged as the "luckiest" brand, gracing the gowns of eight previous winners.
Presenters like Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who has a storied history of memorable Golden Globes red carpet looks, will undoubtedly bring their fashion A-game. Keep an eye out for daring silhouettes, vibrant hues, and perhaps a nod to classic Hollywood glamour as celebrities aim to make their mark both on and off the stage.
Beyond the established contenders, several potential record-breaking moments are on the horizon. Chloé Zhao, nominated for Hamnet, could become the first female director to win in the Best Director category on multiple occasions. Ryan Coogler (Sinners) could make history as the first Black director to win in the Best Director category. The newly introduced Best Podcast category is also an exciting addition, reflecting the industry's evolving landscape.
The night promises compelling speeches, heartfelt tributes, and perhaps a few surprises that will keep audiences talking long after the final award is presented. Will the favorites prevail, or will there be upset wins that define the 83rd Golden Globes? Only time will tell.
The 83rd Annual Golden Globes are set to deliver an evening of unparalleled entertainment, recognizing the best in film, television, and now, podcasting. With Nikki Glaser's sharp hosting, the moving tributes to Helen Mirren and Sarah Jessica Parker, and a truly competitive field of nominees, this year's ceremony is a must-watch event for anyone who loves storytelling and the magic of Hollywood.
