[1, 2]

The 'Better Broken' tour isn't just a series of concerts; it's a living embodiment of McLachlan's critically acclaimed tenth studio album of the same name. Released on September 19, 2025, via Concord Records, 'Better Broken' marks a significant return for the artist, being her first album of original material in over a decade and her first studio album since 2016's 'Wonderland.'

The 'Better Broken' Album: A Journey of Resilience and Reflection

The album 'Better Broken' is a deeply personal and universally resonant work. Its title track, and indeed the entire album, serves as a "soul-searching reflection on strength gained from weathering life's storms." [1, 9] McLachlan herself has articulated her intention behind the album, stating that her goal was to "[provide] people with some relief and release — but in the end I just want them to take whatever they need from it, and make the songs part of their own story." [9] This sentiment perfectly encapsulates the enduring power of her music, which consistently invites listeners to find their own narratives within her melodic tapestries.

Beyond personal introspection, 'Better Broken' bravely tackles contemporary global tensions, exploring themes of strained relationships, the erosion of women's rights, and broader existential musings on societal cohesion. This fearless engagement with the present-day world, filtered through her signature emotive lens, showcases McLachlan's continued relevance and her commitment to using her art as a mirror to our shared human experience. It's a testament to her unique ability to blend profound personal insight with a keen awareness of the world around her.

Crafted with meticulous artistry, the album was primarily recorded at the legendary Sound City Studios in Los Angeles. McLachlan expanded her creative circle, collaborating with acclaimed producers Tony Berg and Will Maclellan, alongside a stellar lineup of musicians including Wendy Melvoin, Matt Chamberlain, Benny Bock, and Greg Leisz. [1, 2] This collaborative spirit undoubtedly contributed to the rich textures and nuanced sound that define 'Better Broken,' making it a compelling listen that rewards repeated engagement.
